1. Uplighting
Choosing to light spaces from the ground or lower down is considered to be quite unconventional, especially in homes. While some bars, clubs and hotels utilise this technique, why shouldn’t one do this in the home. 2. Installing lights around the ceiling, not just on the ceiling
Installing spot lights around the ceiling instead of in the centre of it creates a whole new look. The walls that the light bounces off amplify the light entirely and make the room ,and all who enter it, feel uplifted. The other takeaway point from these photos is that there is nothing wrong with having multiple lights, it affords you more flexibility in creating the perfect atmosphere no matter what the occasion.
3. Spotlights
Spot lights should never be underestimated. If one can get dimmer switches and powerful bulbs the mood can be altered very easily. Again, here it pays to have more lights. The more lights you have in the room, the more opportunities to tweak the feel of the room, perfect for greeting a special guest or keeping in line with seasonal changes (very true if there are big windows in the room, like in the picture above).
4. How about creating a party room?
This technique is essentially a mixture of the previous methods- uplighting combined with bouncing the light off the walls, from the ground up. While this might not fulfill everyone’s idea of what a lounge might look like, owning some lights (even if they are not as big as the ones above) that you can do this with will undoubtedly add that extra wow factor to any party you throw.
We can’t all own mansions and rooms as big as the ones featured, however we can all be creative. Choosing the best ceiling lights, floor lights and positioning them correctly is neither physically taxing nor expensive.
